Taplow Lake | OUTSIDE 2 Swim Coach Information

Please see the following information for Taplow Lake outdoors swimming location. Including directions, session times and coaches.

Please note that the control group swim course for this site, taking place in 2026, will be held at Bray Lake.

Session dates and times (2024)

Introduction session:

Thursday 12th September via Zoom/Teams. This session will introduce Carine our swim coach who will provide details of what to bring with you. This will also be a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have in preparation for the first in-person session on 14th September.

Wednesday 28th May 2025 via Zoom/Teams. This session will introduce Carine our swim coach who will provide details of what to bring with you. This will also be a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have in preparation for the first in-person session on Saturday 31st May.

Swimming experience needed

We have room for people to dip, however Ideally if participants are able to swim 25m in some shape or form they can then swim alongside the decking area.

Accessibility of venue

Access to Water 

Anyone unable to access steps can walk (or drive & park) around the back of the building where they will find the ramp down to the edge of the lake. There is gentle sloping access into the water and hand-rails (if required) to help less able swimmers enter the lake. It is possible for people to stand & ‘dip’ in this area as it is shallow enough, without needing to swim.  

Facilities (including where you can get changed)

Indoor heated changing rooms, 8 individual outside showers/changing cubicles and indoor places to warm up. Café on site

What to bring with you

Minimum – Costume / Trunks, Towel, lots of warm layers, big warm coat, woolly hat, warm drink for post swim warm up.

The lake requires everyone to have a Brightly coloured swim cap & tow float.

Other things that might be useful:

Some sort of changing robe, neoprene wetsuit gloves, beach shoes/footwear to swim in, flip flops or sliders to walk to edge of lake, goggles, hot water bottle and a wetsuit if you would prefer to use one. We aren’t expecting participants to have all these things or go out & buy them especially (unless they want to). We do have lots of these additional items that we are able to lend. Please contact us to let us know if there is anything you don’t have from the required items & need to borrow. We can also advise on where to buy items from should you prefer to do that.
