This is a beautiful river location. There are no changing or toilet facilities. We will have large changing robes for people to change underneath. Wild weeing is the expectation.
What to bring with you
What to wear/ bring
Kit to bring (at first glance this may seem like an extensive list but better to have it all and not use it than wish you had extra layers)
Pre swim
- camera or phone to capture the moments! (we will have a waterproof one too)
- we will have a chat re conditions etc. before we get into the water and so make sure you are wearing warm clothing.
- shoes that you are happy to walk to the place we are swimming from. Chances are it will be muddy.
- make sure you have had something to eat before you meet us. Not doing so means you likely to feel the cold more.
- Please refrain from drinking alcohol, using drugs, strong caffeine the night before and on the day.
For the swim
- swimming costume / trunks / anything that you feel comfortable swimming in that would be too heavy when wet or make swimming tricky. (suggest you arrive wearing them underneath warmer clothes)
- a bright woolly hat to wear
- if you have any cuts or grazes please ensure they are covered with waterproof plasters
For after the swim
- large towel
- shoes that you can slip on and off as you enter and exit the water (e.g. crocs/ flip flip) or if you prefer you can swim in
- a bag to carry it all in and which can keep your clothes dry should it rain.
- something to stand on to keep your feet warmer and dry while you change
- loose fitting layers of clothing, trousers, thermals, tops, jumpers, woolly socks that you can put on easily. (underwear can be a later addition!) This is no time for skinny jeans!
- woolly hat
- gloves
- large warm waterproof coat to keep the wind off as you get changed. This can be a large fitting winter coat or dressing gown etc.
- woolly socks and shoes that you can put on while wearing bigger socks
The chances are you may not need all this gear but it is better to have it ready. Dress as if you were expecting a blizzard!
